Youth Music Theatre UK (YMT) is visiting Scotland in February to find talented young people for their 2012 Summer Productions.

YMT is the UK's leading music theatre organisation for young people aged 11-21. Every year they select 300 young people to work in projects across the UK. Like other national youth performing arts companies, auditioning for YMT gives young people the opportunity to work with music theatre professionals at the highest level, creating new work which is performed in theatres and festivals around the country.

YMT is an exceptional training opportunity and many young people have gone on to study at drama schools like Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Mountview and Central School of Speech and Drama. Their staff includes directors, music directors and choreographers who are all currently working professionally for companies including, National Theatre of Scotland, Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre.

The audition is a 2½ hour workshop with three artistic staff, where participants will be asked to act, sing and dance. No preparation or previous experience is required; they would rather people turn up, be themselves and show what they can do. They are casting for seven very different shows so performers of all varieties, ages and styles will be considered. The audition costs £30.

Auditions are being held in the following places:

Saturday 11 February PERTH, Perth Theatre Studio, 185 High Street, Perth PH1 5UW

Sunday 12 February   ABERDEEN, Citymoves Dance Agency, Schoolhill, Aberdeen, AB10 1FG

Monday 13 February   INVERNESS, Spectrum Centre, 1 Margaret Street, Inverness, IV1 1LS

GAMA Youth Receives a Welcome Unexpected Donation

On Wedneday 29th June, Karen Skene and Karen Campbell accepted a cheque for £2,000 from the Glenrothes Civic Trust at a ceremony in front of the Rothes Halls.

The Civic Trust is winding up their Arts Endowment Fund and are distributing the balance of the fund to local organisations such as the Glenrothes Pipe Band, Glenrothes Art Club and Glenrothes Area Heritage Centre.

This is an unexpected and welcome donation to our funds and will contribute greatly to our ability to give youngsters in the area experience of musical theatre.

!A very big THANK YOU to the Glenrothes Civic Trust!
